API 600 Pressure Seal Gate Valves
1. How does a pressure seal gate valve work?
Pressure seal gate valves, also known as "pressurized seal", are widely used in critical power plant applications in which elevated temperature and high pressure are very common. As illustrated in above drawing, A & B stands for the bonnet tendency to move up or down as pressure changes. When the pipeline internal pressure arises, it(C) pushes the bonnet towards the gasket to get a pressurized sealing force(D). The higher the pressure in valve cavity, the greater the sealing force at bonnet.
